Morel Map

"Growing up in Wisconsin, the lore of morel mushroom scavenging has been with me since childhood. We’ve hunted for morel mushrooms for the last several years, always uncovering them on a hard-to-reach river bank that we call the “Fertile Valley”. Last spring I brought my latest Morel Map trial, hoping it captured the scent of our trek. We finalized the formula with friends in the Fertile Valley right after finding our first morels of the season.

The goal of Morel Map was to draft an olfactory guide, steering you through the woods to wherever morels hide. I was thinking a lot about what it smells like to bend down — closer to the mud, fallen pine needles, and violets — to pick them. The result is a damp, loamy, grassy, and distinctly dirty slice of a midwestern spring.”
